             LITTLE SHELTIE PUMPKIN HOOD

There lived in a certain village, a little SHELTIE, the prettiest creature ever seen.  Her mother was very fond of her.  This good woman order for her a PUMPKIN COSTUME from PETSMART, which became the little SHELTIE so well, that she was called LITTLE SHELTIE PUMPKIN HOOD.

One Halloween eve her mother having made some Halloween brownies by her aunt Alice's recipe, said to her, " go my dear, and see how thy grandma' does, for I hear she has been ill; carry these brownies, and pot of ginseng tea"  Little Sheltie Pumpkin Hood set out immediately; but as she was going through the woods, she met with Gaffer Werewolf.  He asked her which way she was going.  The poor Sheltie, said, "I am going to see my grandma' and carry her Alice's brownies and this pot of ginseng tea."  "Does she live far off ?" said the Werewolf.  "Oh, yes," answered Little Sheltie Pumpkin Hood, "it is beyond the mill, at the yellow house which you see yonder."  "Well," said the Werewolf, "I'll go this way, and you go that; and we shall see which will be there soonest."

The Werewolf then ran as fast as he could, taking the nearest way, and the little Sheltie went the farthest about, diverting herself  by gazing beyond the trees, while gathering limbs, and feathers to make Native American crafts.

The Werewolf soon got to the old lady's house.  He knocked at the door.  "Who's there ?" said she.  "Your grandpuppy, Little Sheltie Pumpkin Hood,"  (replied the Werewolf,)  "who has brought some Halloween brownies and ginseng tea, given you by my ma, using Aunt Alice's recipe."

The grandmother, who was ill in bed, said, "pull the bobbin, and the latch will go up."  The Werewolf did so, and the door opened, and then presently he fell upon the good woman, and eat her up.  He then shut the door, and got into the bed, expectiong Little Sheltie Pupmkin Hood. who came soon after, and tapped at the door.  "Who's there ?" said the Werewolf.  Little Sheltie Pumpkin Hood: hearing the big voice of the Werewolf, was at first afraid, but believing her grandmother had got a cold, and so was hoarse, answered, "your grandpuppy, Little Sheltie Pumpkin Hood, who has brought brownies and ginseng tea, my ma' sends to you.  The Werewolf cried out to her, (softening his voice as much as he could,) "pull the bobbin, and the latch will go up."  Little Sheltie Pumpkin Hood did so, and the door opened.

The Werewolf, seeing her, hid himself, and bid her put the brownies and the ginseng tea upon the table and come and lie down next to her.  She then went into bed, where, being greatly amazed to see how her grandmother looked, she said, "grandma," what great arms you have!"  "That's the better to hug thee my dear."  "What great legs you have!"  "That is to run the better, my child." "What great ears you have!"  "That is to hear the better, child."  "What great eyes you have!"  "It is to see the better, my dear."  "Grandma', what great teeth you have!!"  "They are to eat thee up."  And having said these words, he fell upon poor Little Sheltie Pumpkin Hood and eat her all up.

Everyone showed up to look for her;  at last Jerry Garcia ventured into the house, found the clothes of Little Sheltie Pumpkin Hood, torn all about the floor, and the Werewolf fast asleep.  He made the best of his way out, taking care to pull the door shut after him.  When Jerry told what he had seen,  the base drummer was pounded on, and all the Deadheads were in a rage.  So they all set off to the attack.  Poor Werewolf was pawing at the door, the Werewolf ran upstairs, and Jerry went in and fastened the stair door; in this delemma he climbed up the chimney, and Janet Joplin set fire to a parcel of straw to smoke him out;  he soon began to cry for mercy.  Upon this Jerry Garcia opened the door, dragged the Werewolf out and slit his belly wide open; pulling poor Little Sheltie Pumpkin Hood out of his tummy and safely into Janet Joplin's arms.  Little Sheltie Pumpkin Hood was so happy to have been saved by such wonderful people.  She took voice lessons and changed her name to Stevie Nicks.
